A Waukegan man and Round Lake Beach man were arrested after they allegedly used a shotgun to rob a person at a high school athletic field in Waukegan.
Raul Jimenez, 27, of the 1400 block of Highland Parkway in Round Lake Beach, was charged with armed robbery, a Class X felony.
Hector Reyes, 26, of the 400 block of South Fulton Avenue in Waukegan, was charged with aggravated robbery indicating a firearm, a Class 2 felony.
Jimenez and Reyes were both arrested on October 19 by officers with the Waukegan Police Department.
Court documents allege that the two men took property from a person by force around 11:30 p.m. on October 18.
The incident occurred at Waukegan High School’s Weiss Field, 100 North Lewis Avenue.
A criminal complaint filed in Lake County Circuit Court said that Jimenez was armed with a shotgun during the robbery.
After officers arrested the two men, they recovered the shotgun used in the robbery. It was unloaded and ammunition was immediately accessible to it, the complaint said.
Jimenez, who is a convicted felon, gave police officers a fake name when they stopped him, the complaint said.
Jimenez faces additional charges of obstructing identification, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card.
Officers also cited Jimenez for driving on a revoked license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Lake County Judge Paul Novak ordered Jimenez held on a $500,000 bond and Reyes held on a $350,000 bond, court records show.
