A student was transported to the hospital after reportedly being stabbed during a fight Monday morning at Zion-Benton Township High School.
The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire Rescue Department responded to the school, located at 3901 West 21st Street in Zion, around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Zion Police Department Lt. Christopher Sweeting said in a statement that officers responded to a physical altercation on the campus between two students.
According to fire department radio traffic, one of the students sustained a stab wound.
The extent of the victim’s injuries was not released and they were transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Officers are not seeking any additional suspects, Sweeting said.
Sweeting told Lake and McHenry County Scanner he is unable to release further details on the incident at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
In an email to parents, school officials said they were working with authorities and parents “as the safety and well-being of students remains our top priority.”
The incident remains under investigation by the school administration and the Zion Police Department.
