A man was charged after he allegedly impersonated a police officer, pulled over a vehicle and tried arresting the female driver in Huntley.
Vincent M. Petryniec, 48, of the 11400 block of Russell Drive in Huntley, was charged with false impersonation of a police officer, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct.
A police report said the incident occurred near Haligus Road and Algonquin Road in Huntley on October 23.
Huntley Deputy Police Chief Linda Hooten said Petryniec stopped another vehicle with his vehicle.
Petryniec allegedly displayed a badge to the driver of the vehicle and presented himself as a police officer, Hooten said.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said the badge was a Stardust Resort and Casino security badge.
Petryniec told the woman she was under arrest, the complaint said, adding that the man began “shouting obscenities and striking her vehicle with his hand.”
Officers with the Huntley Police Department were called and attempted to take Petryniec into custody but he resisted arrest, the complaint said.
Petryniec was transported to the McHenry County Jail where he was released after posting 10% of his $10,000 bond.
A court hearing is scheduled for December 6.
