A Crystal Lake man allegedly pushed a police officer to the ground as the officer was trying to arrest the man on a warrant on Saturday.
Carey D. Spicer, 38, of the 500 block of West Crystal Lake Avenue in Crystal Lake, was charged with aggravated battery of a peace officer, a Class 2 felony.
Court documents show officers with the Crystal Lake Police Department responded to Spicer’s home on Saturday.
An officer tried to arrest Spicer, who was wanted on an arrest warrant. The warrant stems from a traffic case where Spicer failed to appear in court.
The man pushed the officer in the chest area, causing the officer to trip and fall to the ground, court documents say. It is unknown if the police officer was injured.
Spicer was taken into custody and transported to the McHenry County Jail where he was ordered held on a $36,000 bond.
Spicer, who would need to post $3,600 cash to be released, remains held in jail as of Tuesday.
A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday after Spicer’s attorney requested the court to grant a lower bond or a personal recognizance bond.
