Anita Gustafson, 59, of Lake in the Hills.

A woman has been charged after police say she fired a gun in front of her Lake in the Hills home, prompting a SWAT team to respond last weekend.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 10 p.m. Sunday to a call of gunshots heard in the 500 block of Delaware Drive in Lake in the Hills.

Lake in the Hills Deputy Police Chief Matthew Mannino said officers determined several shots were fired outside a residence on the block.

Mannino said the suspect who fired the shots was identified as Anita Gustafson, 59, of the 500 block of Delaware Drive in Lake in the Hills.

Officers secured Gustafson’s residence and requested the assistance of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

Officers and a SWAT team executed a search warrant around 2:22 a.m. Monday at the woman’s residence.

Court documents show officers seized 100-500 grams of cannabis and eight cannabis sativa plants that had been grown in the residence.

Gustafson was not located inside the home. Officers conducted further investigation and took the woman into custody on Thursday afternoon.

Mannino did not say why Gustafson allegedly fired her gun or if she was shooting at anyone specific.

Gustafson was transferred to the McHenry County Jail where she remains held on a $5,000 bond.
