At least one person was transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash that sent one of the vehicles through a clothing store in Waukegan Saturday evening.
The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 9:20 p.m. Saturday to 9th Street and Genesee Street in Waukegan for a report of a car into a building call.
First responders arrived and found a vehicle that struck My Style Fashions, located at 902 South Genesee Street.
The incident involved two cars, with one of them crashing into the building, causing damage to the structure.
Paramedics transported at least one victim by ambulance to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Their condition was not immediately known.
“Basically, the damage, the entire front wall of my building is gone, the entire front wall, completely gone,” Tasha Washington, the owner of the store, told ABC7 News.
“So, I have a board-up service. They’re here. They’re doing their job. I mean I’ll be down for, maybe a week, two, I don’t know,” Washington said.
Washington said she does have insurance to cover the damage and is glad those involved appeared to be OK, ABC7 reported.
The Waukegan Building Department was called to the scene to evaluate the structure. It is unknown how the crash occurred.
