Police say a man and woman were found dead in a motel in Libertyville and an infant, who was also in their room, was found unharmed and is in DCFS custody.

The Libertyville Police Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded around 11:08 a.m. Saturday to the Motel 6, 1809 North Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville.

Libertyville Police Department Sgt. Jason Kapusinski said officers responded to a report of two people found unresponsive in a room at the motel.

Officers arrived at the scene and confirmed a deceased male and a deceased female, both in their 30s, in one of the rooms, Kapusinski said.

An infant in the room appeared unharmed and was transported by paramedics to Advocate Condell Medical Center for a medical assessment.

The infant is now in the care of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Kapusinski said that a preliminary investigation revealed the deaths appear to be drug-related.

He said the man and woman are believed to be the parents of the child who was found in the room.

The identities of the two subjects are being withheld pending notification to their families.

The incident remains under investigation by the Libertyville Police Department and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
