Christopher P. St. Georges, 24, of Crystal Lake

A Crystal Lake man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a child younger than 9 years old when he was 15 years old was sentenced this week to six years in prison.

Christopher P. St. Georges, 24, of the 500 block of Somerset Lane in Crystal Lake, was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child.

In April, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement they arrested St. Georges after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The charges against the man came following a joint investigation with the Algonquin Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

St. Georges committed acts of sexual penetration on a victim under the age of 9 on at least two occasions in 2013, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court.

St. Georges also committed acts of sexual conduct with the victim on at least two occasions that same year, the complaint said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said St. Georges was 15 years old at the time of the assaults.

On Tuesday, St. Georges entered into a plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.

St. Georges pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, in exchange for his other charges being dismissed.

McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge approved the deal and sentenced St. Georges to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

St. Georges will also be required to pay $1,389 in court fines and fees and will be required to register as a sex offender upon release.

The case was investigated by members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Tyler Mikan of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
