The Lake County Major Crime Task Force is investigating after a 22-year-old man from Kenosha was shot to death in North Chicago Sunday morning.
The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 3:10 a.m. Sunday to the 2000 block of Kristan Avenue.
Lake County Major Crime Task Force Spokesman Christopher Covelli said officers responded to a call of a person shot.
Officers arrived and located a 22-year-old man from Kenosha, Wisconsin, who had been shot inside a house.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, Covelli said.
Preliminary information shows the man was the intended target of the shooting.
The North Chicago Police Department requested the Lake County Major Crime Task Force to assist in the investigation.
Major Crime Task Force investigators and North Chicago police detectives are actively investigating.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear and investigators are conducting interviews to establish a specific motive, Covelli said.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and has scheduled an autopsy for Monday.
