A Beach Park man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a victim in Zion earlier this year while he was on probation for gun charges.

Dominique D. McMath, 26, of the 39100 block of Aberdeen Lane in Beach Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, a Class 2 felony, and aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony.

A second man, Richard D. McMath, 37, of the 2000 block of Carmel Boulevard in Zion, was also charged in connection with the incident.

Richard McMath was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

A criminal complaint filed in Lake County Circuit Court alleges Dominique McMath and Richard McMath both discharged guns in the direction of a 27-year-old man.

Richard McMath allegedly intended to kill the victim when he fired numerous shots, leaving the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, the complaint said.

Zion Police Department Lt. Christopher Sweeting said the shooting occurred in the 2900 block of 31st Street in Zion on March 22.

Paramedics transported the victim to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan for treatment.

While Dominique McMath was charged with shooting at the victim, he was not charged with striking the victim with any bullets.

An arrest warrant was issued for both suspects, who are convicted felons, on March 25 and Richard McMath was taken into custody in late October by the Zion Police Department.

Dominique McMath was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail on November 30.

Court records show Dominique McMath was on probation at the time of the shooting for a case where he was convicted of illegally possessing a gun during a domestic battery incident in Zion.

Dominique McMath remains held on a $750,000 bond and Richard McMath remains held in the Lake County Jail on a $1 million bond.
