Two men have been charged for allegedly shooting a man with BB guns in Beach Park, leaving the man seriously injured after one of the pellets penetrated his chest.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the incident on May 29 after being dispatched to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan for a report of a person who had been seriously injured during a dispute.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the hospital and found the victim, a 38-year-old Antioch man, being treated after sustaining injuries from being shot by a BB gun earlier in the day.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said a further investigation showed the victim was in a verbal altercation with other individuals outside of a residence in the 12700 block of West Graves Road in Beach Park.
Two men, later identified as James F. Lindberg and Keith C. Joyce, both fired BB guns at the victim during the argument, Covelli said.
The BB penetrated the victim’s side chest area and lodged near his heart, Covelli said.
Sheriff’s detectives conducted further investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Lindberg, 42, of the 12700 block of West Bonnie Brooke Lane in Beach Park, on November 5.
Lindberg was arrested without incident on December 5 when a sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that he was an occupant of.
Lindberg was released from the Lake County Jail on Monday after posting 10% of his $350,000 bond.
Sheriff’s detectives also obtained an arrest warrant in November for Joyce, 50, of the 2700 block of Sunset Avenue in Waukegan.
Joyce is still wanted on the warrant, which holds a bond of $350,000, Covelli said.
