Police now say that the person in “The Grinch” costume and other individuals seen on surveillance camera were not the ones who damaged a holiday ice display in Antioch on Sunday.

Officers with the Antioch Police Department conducted a premise check on Sunday at Hiram Buttrick Sawmill, 770 Cunningham Drive in Antioch.

Officers discovered damage to the community’s holiday display while conducting their premise check.

Security camera footage captured a silver minivan arriving at the park, police said.

Four or five occupants, including one wearing a Grinch outfit, got out of the van around 2 p.m. Sunday and approached the display.

The Antioch Police Department said Monday afternoon that they were seeking assistance from the public in identifying the subjects and the owner of the vehicle.

Police said later Monday that they identified the subjects thanks to the public’s help but determined they were not the ones who damaged the ice sculpture display.
