A person in the roadway on Route 14 in Crystal Lake was hit by a car and reportedly suffered serious injuries Monday evening.
The Crystal Lake Police Department and Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded around 6:45 p.m. Monday to the area of Route 14 and Pingree Road.
Emergency crews arrived to find a pedestrian that had been struck by a car on Route 14 just east of Pingree Road.
Paramedics transported the victim, who reportedly suffered serious injuries and was initially unconscious, to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry, according to fire department radio traffic.
The victim was transferred to a LifeNet medical helicopter and flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, which is a Level 1 trauma center.
The Crystal Lake Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene to conduct a full crash investigation.
Police shut down westbound Route 14 between Cog Circle and Pingree Road for several hours while investigators were at the scene.
An update on the victim’s condition was not immediately available. The Crystal Lake Police Department has not released any additional details on the incident.
