Ryan S. Noe, 40, of Marengo.

A Marengo man has been charged after he allegedly pepper-sprayed his girlfriend and then punched a responding police officer Thursday in Marengo.

Ryan S. Noe, 40, of the 6200 block of Lakewood Drive in Marengo, was charged with aggravated battery of a peace officer, two counts of domestic battery and one count of interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said that Noe pried pepper spray out of the hands of his girlfriend.

He then discharged the pepper spray into his girlfriend’s face, causing her to suffer pain, swelling and redness, according to the complaint.

The woman tried to call 911 after the incident but Noe allegedly physically removed the phone from her hands and said, “You ain’t calling the police,” the complaint said.

The Marengo Police Department eventually responded to the scene and Noe punched a police officer in the stomach, the complaint added.

Officers were able to take Noe into custody around 1:20 a.m. Thursday, court records show.

He was transported to the McHenry County Jail where he remains held on a $50,000 bond.

Police records show Noe has two other separate cases within the past year for battery.

Noe, who must post $5,000 cash in order to be released, is scheduled to appear in court again on Monday for a bond hearing.
