Police say a McHenry man was arrested after he slashed his girlfriend in the face with a knife during a dispute Saturday evening in McHenry.
The McHenry Police Department responded around 9 p.m. Saturday to the 1900 block of Concord Drive in McHenry for a report of a stabbing.
The victim, a 52-year-old female, reported being involved in a domestic dispute with Rogelio Cantu, 52, of the 1900 block of Concord Drive in McHenry.
McHenry Deputy Police Chief Thomas Walsh said Cantu is the woman’s live-in boyfriend.
During the dispute, Cantu slashed the victim in the face with a knife, Walsh said.
The victim was able to leave the residence and yell for help.
Neighbors who heard the woman came to her aid and called 911, Walsh said.
Paramedics transported the woman to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with a non-life-threatening injury to her face.
She was treated and released a few hours later.
Cantu was charged with one count of aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony, and two counts of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.
He was also charged with interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, a Class A misdemeanor.
Cantu was transported to the McHenry County Jail to await court proceedings.
