Fire officials say six people were transported to local hospitals following a t-bone crash Sunday evening in Zion.

The Zion Fire and Rescue Department and Zion Police Department responded around 10:15 p.m. Sunday to 21st Street and Green Bay Road for a vehicle crash with injuries.

The crash involved a mid-size SUV and a pickup truck.

There were initial reports of a person trapped in one of the vehicles, which had five occupants, but the person was able to get out on their own.

Fire officials said five ambulances were requested to the scene for multiple people injured.

Five ambulances, including ones from Beach Park, Newport, Winthrop Harbor and two from Zion, responded to the scene.

Six people were transported to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan and Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.

None of the injured victims sustained life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.

Firefighters from Gurnee and Pleasant Prairie covered calls in Zion during the incident.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known and it remains under investigation by the Zion Police Department.
