Officials say a driver was arrested after crashing into a police squad car in Lake Forest early Sunday morning, leaving the officer with minor injuries.
The incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday at Westleigh Road and Valley Road, according to Lake Forest Deputy Police Chief Rob Copeland.
Copeland told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that a Lake Forest police officer was sitting in his squad car running stationary radar.
A vehicle traveling westbound on Westleigh Road struck the rear end of the squad car.
The officer inside the squad car was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for an evaluation, Copeland said.
The officer was not seriously hurt and was released a short time later.
A natural gas line in the ditch was struck during the collision, requiring the gas company to respond to the scene, according to the fire department.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the squad was arrested for driving with a revoked license.
The driver was not driving under the influence, Copeland added.
