Police have released renderings of two suspects who beat and carjacked an employee at gunpoint as he was arriving for work at Green Oaks Senior Living near Libertyville in November.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 6:10 a.m. November 27 to Green Oaks Senior Living, 14595 West Rockland Road in Green Oaks for a report of an aggravated vehicular hijacking.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said a 42-year-old man, who works at the assisted living facility, arrived to begin his shift and was parking his car.
When he opened his car door, he was quickly approached by two men, Covelli said.
One of the men was armed with a handgun and struck the victim in the head and face with the gun.
The victim described the first man as being African American, with a lighter complexion and approximately 160-170 pounds.
The second man was described as being African American, with a darker complexion and being larger. Both men are believed to be in their 20s.
One of the men entered the victim’s 2019 Kia Forte, which has an Illinois license plate of BU47018, and drove away in an unknown direction.
The other man fled in an escape vehicle, Covelli said.
The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene for the injuries he sustained. He did not need to be transported to the hospital.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released sketches made by Waukegan Police Officer Brian Maschek of the two suspects.
