Authorities have identified a 31-year-old man who was killed Wednesday in Lake in the Hills after he lost control of his vehicle and it rolled over.

An autopsy showed Jordan Bergmann, 31, of Lake in the Hills, died from blunt force trauma, according to McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 9:20 p.m. to Algonquin Road and Pyott Road.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Deputy Chief John Knebl said crews received a call for a single-vehicle crash west of the intersection.

An off-duty Palatine firefighter was first on the scene and reported the victim, later identified as Bergmann, was in traumatic arrest, Knebl said.

The crash, which occurred across the street from an Algonquin fire station, involved a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

Fire crews arrived to find the Toyota rolled over onto its roof. No other cars were involved.

Paramedics pronounced Bergmann dead at the scene. No one else was inside the vehicle.

Fire crews remained at the scene for approximately five hours to provide lighting for crash investigators.

The westbound lanes of Algonquin Road were shut down during the crash investigation.

Police said the Toyota had been traveling westbound when Bergmann lost control of the vehicle, struck a guardrail and his vehicle rolled over.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department said the crash is under investigation by their Traffic Accident Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

Toxicology results are pending for Bergmann, Rein said.
