Authorities say a Palatine woman died after she suffered life-threatening injuries following a rollover crash into a fence in Kildeer on Sunday.

The Kildeer Police Department and Lake Zurich Fire Department responded around 6:10 p.m. Sunday to Concorde Banquets, 20922 North Rand Road in Kildeer, for a report of a vehicle crash.

Kildeer Police Chief Steve Balinski said the incident involved a single vehicle.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on Rand Road when it drove off the roadway and struck a fence in front of Concorde Banquets.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage and the driver suffered life-threatening injuries, Balinski said.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Colleen O’Neill, 60, of Palatine.

Paramedics transported O’Neill to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

No one else was in the vehicle besides the woman.

O’Neill died from her injuries in the intensive care unit on Monday, the coroner’s office said. An autopsy is being scheduled.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was called to assist the Kildeer Police Department in the investigation.

Balinski said Route 12 was shut down in both directions for approximately four and a half hours Sunday.

“Our prayers and thoughts go out to the driver and family members,” Balinski said, adding that it has not been determined what led to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Kildeer Police Department, Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County and Lake County Coroner’s Office.
