A live rifle round was found on the floor of a classroom at Antioch Upper Grade School after school was over on Wednesday, police said.

The Antioch Police Department was alerted on Wednesday by school administration at Antioch Upper Grade School, 800 Highview Drive in Antioch.

School officials reported that a live rifle round was located on the floor in a classroom while the janitorial staff was cleaning after school.

The Antioch Police Department said they collaborated with the school administration and an investigation was immediately launched.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was requested for their specialized canine detection unit, Antioch police said.

The Lake County sheriff canine unit arrived at the school and conducted a search, which resulted in no other firearm-related articles being located, police said.

“After an extensive search of the school grounds, social media platforms, and other investigatory tools we have not linked this to any specific threat,” the police department said in a statement.
