Joseph R. Sallis, 50, of Springfield.

A Springfield man was arrested inside of a victim’s home near Antioch after he allegedly committed a home invasion and battered a woman.

Joseph R. Sallis, 50, of the 2500 block of South Pasfield Street in Springfield, was charged with home invasion, domestic battery and criminal trespass to residence.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called around 7:50 p.m. Saturday to the 42300 block of North Park Place in unincorporated Antioch for a domestic battery incident.

Sheriff’s deputies met the victim at a different location after she fled from her home, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli.

The victim reported that Sallis, whom she previously had a relationship with, unlawfully came into her home and struck her several times, Covelli said.

Sheriff’s deputies then went to the victim’s home in the 42300 block of North Park Place and found Sallis still there.

They placed him under arrest and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges against him.

In addition to his charges, Sallis had an active warrant out of Mississippi for a parole violation.

Sallis remains held in the Lake County Jail where he is being held on a $150,000 bond. He would need to post $15,000 cash in order to be released.

Sallis is scheduled to appear in court again on March 9.
