No animals were inside a barn that caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames early Thursday morning near Barrington, fire officials said.

The Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District responded around 12:51 a.m. Thursday to the 27000 block of Henry Lane in unincorporated Barrington for a structure fire call.

Firefighters arrived on the scene in under five minutes to find a fully involved barn fire.

Crews immediately began fire suppression activities and extinguished the fire, the fire protection district said.

Firefighters completed overhaul operations to confirm the fire was contained. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District Chief John Kreher said no animals were in the small barn.

The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.

The Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District was assisted by firefighters from Cary, Barrington, Algonquin-Lake in The Hills, Fox River Grove, Palatine-Rural, Wauconda, Long Grove and Hoffman Estates.
