The health department said they are investigating a possible foodborne illness outbreak associated with a school in Woodstock.

The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) said they are investigating illnesses that occurred on or after February 7 and have an association with Crystal Lake Montessori School, 3013 South Country Club Road in Woodstock.

They are also investigating any events at an alternative location sponsored by the school.

The investigation is ongoing and information about the total number of cases of illness and the cause of illness is currently not available, the health department said.

MCDH is asking everyone who ate food either at a Crystal Lake Montessori School classroom event or from a school-sponsored event to complete a confidential survey regardless of whether they developed symptoms.

MCDH said they are also asking anyone who is associated with the school and became ill but did not attend any of the school-sponsored events to complete the survey as it will help in the overall investigation.

Information collected in the survey is confidential, the health department said, adding that the survey database used to collect the information is HIPAA compliant.

“The survey will only take a few minutes to complete and is important to help understand what happened to cause illnesses. We thank you for your time and participation in this important survey,” MCDH said.

Anyone with questions about the survey can call 815-334-4500 and ask for a communicable disease nurse.
