A driver was transported to a trauma center reportedly with serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash into a tree near Harvard Saturday evening.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Harvard Fire Protection District responded around 9:10 p.m. Saturday to State Line Road east of Alden Road in unincorporated Harvard for a report of a vehicle crash.
The Town of Linn, Wisconsin Police Department and Town of Linn, Wisconsin Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The crash occurred on State Line Road between Highfield Drive and Swamp Angel Road, according to Town of Linn Police Captain Jon Albrecht.
Responding officers located a single vehicle that left the roadway and struck a tree.
The car was driving on the Illinois side of the border and ended up on the Wisconsin side when it crashed.
Albrecht said the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Firefighters had to extricate them from the vehicle, according to the fire department.
A LifeNet medical helicopter had been requested but did not respond because the nearest helicopter was not close by.
Paramedics transported the driver by ambulance to Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville.
Albrecht said the crash is currently under investigation and no other information is available yet.
