A Mundelein man who was convicted of driving on a revoked license for the eighth time after causing a crash in Mundelein has been sentenced to 180 days in jail.
Douglas R. Welle, 43, of the 19000 block of West Lakeview Avenue in Mundelein, was charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license on 10-14 occasions, failure to reduce speed, improper traffic lane usage, leaving the scene of a crash, failure to give information or render aid and improper overtaking.
Court documents show Welle was arrested by officers with the Mundelein Police Department on August 15, 2019.
Welle was involved in a crash where he fled the scene and failed to report the incident, court records show.
At the time of the incident, Welle had at least seven convictions for driving on a revoked license and several convictions for driving on a suspended license.
Earlier this month, Welle entered into a plea deal with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office where he pleaded guilty to aggravated driving while license revoked, a Class 4 felony.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed all of his other charges and traffic citations.
A Lake County judge approved the plea deal and sentenced Welle to 180 days of periodic imprisonment in the Lake County Jail.
Welle was also sentenced to 24 months of probation. He was ordered not to drive, possess any firearms and not to consume any alcohol and drugs.
