The coroner’s office said a man found dead inside a Round Lake Beach home on Monday was stabbed more than 10 times in what police describe as a domestic situation.

The Round Lake Beach Police Department and Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded around 3 p.m. Monday to the 2000 block of Apache Trail in Round Lake Beach for a report of a stabbing.

Officers arrived and found a man with multiple lacerations, according to Lake County Major Crime Task Force Spokeswoman Heather Cognac.

The man told officers the offender was inside the residence.

Officers entered the residence and located several other people who told officers the offender was in the garage.

Officers entered the garage and found a man deceased with multiple stab wounds, Cognac said.

Investigators believe it was an isolated domestic incident and there is no threat to the community, Cognac said.

The first man who was stabbed was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and conducted an autopsy Tuesday morning.

Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Stephen Newton said the deceased man has been positively identified but his identity is being withheld pending notification to family.

The man, who was in his 30s, was stabbed over 10 times, Newton said.

The identity of the man is expected to be released Wednesday. No charges have been filed in the case yet.
