A Wonder Lake man is facing nearly 20 charges after local and federal law enforcement raided his home and found him in possession of child pornography.
In November, an electronic service provider reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber Tip Line that a user had possessed multiple files containing child sexual abuse material, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
NCMEC reported the tip to the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which assigned the case to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office in January.
On Tuesday, members of the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, including the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Attorney General’s Office, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, executed a search warrant in the 5100 block of Willow Drive in Wonder Lake.
David M. Peters, 39, of the 5100 block of Willow Drive in Wonder Lake, was charged with nineteen counts of possession of child pornography as Class 2 and 3 felonies.
Court records show Peters, who was arrested around 7 a.m. Tuesday, was ordered held in the McHenry County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Peters was released after a judge allowed him to sign a personal recognizance bond on Wednesday.
A court hearing in the case is scheduled for April 2.
