The Illinois State Police is investigating after an occupant reportedly fired shots from a vehicle traveling on Interstate 94 near Wadsworth Friday evening.

The Illinois State Police District 15 responded around 9:45 p.m. Friday to Interstate 94 near mile marker 1 in Wadsworth, just south of the state line.

Illinois State Police Trooper Joshua Robinson said troopers received a call of shots fired in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94.

ISP troopers shut down lanes on the tollway between mile marker 1 and mile marker 2 to investigate.

No shooting victims or suspects were located at the scene, Robinson said, adding that additional information was not immediately available.

An alert was issued across the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network (ISPERN) to area police departments.

The alert said the suspect vehicle was an SUV driven by a male with a female passenger, who was the one shooting a gun into the air.
