A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot multiple times on a residential street in North Chicago Saturday evening.

The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 5:40 p.m. Saturday to the 1200 block of Park Avenue in North Chicago for a report of a shooting.

The male victim was reportedly shot four times, including in the chest.

Paramedics immediately transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Police officers put crime scene tape around a parked vehicle at the scene. Spent shell casings were in the street next to the vehicle.

The victim’s condition was not immediately known but he is expected to survive.

An alert regarding the shooting was issued across the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network (ISPERN) to area police departments.

The alert said the shooter fled the scene in an older model Subaru and was last seen traveling on Sheridan Road at Grand Avenue in Waukegan.

Officers with the Waukegan Police Department later located the suspect vehicle near Glen Rock Avenue and Stripe Court in Waukegan.

The vehicle, which was unoccupied, was towed for evidence, according to a police report.

The incident remains under investigation by the North Chicago Police Department.
