A Crystal Lake man who distributed graphic videos of child pornography on a messaging app has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Anthony D. Rodriguez-Guerra, 24, of the 300 block of Maplewood Lane in Crystal Lake, was charged with 11 counts of reproducing child pornography, a Class X felony, and three counts of possessing child pornography, a Class 3 felony.
On December 6, 2019, Rodriguez-Guerra shared a video on the Telegram app with a male user that showed a child being assaulted, according to court documents.
On March 20, 2020, Rodriguez-Guerra shared another video on the Telegram app with a now-deleted account that also showed a child being assaulted.
Two days later, Rodriguez-Guerra shared a third video on the Telegram app with another account user that showed a child being assaulted, court documents said.
Rodriguez-Guerra was arrested on May 27, 2020, by the Crystal Lake Police Department. A judge set his bond at $100,000 and the man was released after posting 10% cash.
Court records show Rodriguez-Guerra entered into a negotiated plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office on Tuesday.
He pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child pornography, a Class 3 felony, in exchange for all of 13 other charges being dismissed.
A McHenry County judge approved the plea deal and sentenced Rodriguez-Guerra to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Rodriguez-Guerra will also have to pay $4,064 in court fines and fees.
