Police are asking for the public’s help in locating an elderly man who has dementia and went missing from his residence in Buffalo Grove.

The Village of Buffalo Grove issued an alert around 9:30 p.m. Monday for 83-year-old Naum Ferdman.

Ferdman, who has dementia, went missing around 6:30 p.m. Monday from his residence on Old Oak Drive in Buffalo Grove.

Ferdman has a short white beard and was last seen wearing a brown winter hat, black coat and dark blue sweatpants.

Officials said Ferdman left his residence on foot and does not have a cell phone with him.

Police officers and canines have been actively searching the area for him.

In an update Tuesday, officials said that despite ongoing search efforts, the man remains missing as of Tuesday morning.

Residents are urged to be on the lookout for Ferdman and anyone who believes they located him should immediately call 911.
