Naum Ferdman, 83, of Buffalo Grove.

An elderly man with dementia who went missing from his residence in Buffalo Grove nearly three days ago has been located safe, village officials said.

The Village of Buffalo Grove issued an alert Monday evening for 83-year-old Naum Ferdman.

Ferdman, who has dementia, went missing around 5:30 p.m. Monday from his residence on Old Oak Drive in Buffalo Grove.

Officials said Ferdman left his residence on foot and did not have a cell phone with him.

Police officers and canines were actively searching the area for him. Residents were urged to be on the lookout for Ferdman.

In an update Thursday, village officials said Ferdman was located by police early Thursday morning near the Amazon hub in Arlington Heights.

Paramedics were called and evaluated the man before he was released back to his family.
