A juvenile was hospitalized after he was found shot in front of an apartment building Wednesday evening in Waukegan.

The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 6:55 p.m. Wednesday to Lakeside Towers, 200 Julian Street in Waukegan, for a report of a gunshot victim.

Officers arrived and found a male juvenile shot near the entrance of the building, according to a police summary report.

The victim, who was shot in the shoulder area, was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip said the victim was in his late teens and his injuries were not life-threatening.

The teen has been treated at the hospital and released, Florip said. No suspects are in custody.

The teen reportedly told officers that he was shot in a separate location and not at the apartment building, the report said.
