No injuries were reported after a dump truck driver swerved to avoid deer and rolled his truck over in Lake Barrington Friday, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Wauconda Fire District responded around 3 p.m. Friday to Miller Road east of Kelsey Road in Lake Barrington for a report of a vehicle crash.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said the incident involved a dump truck carrying waste from a building renovation.

The dump truck, driven by a 47-year-old Hawthorn Woods man, was traveling on Miller Road when the driver swerved after two deer ran in front of his truck.

Covelli said the truck went off the roadway and the soft ground conditions pulled the truck into a utility pole, which caused the dump truck to roll over.

The contents of the dump truck spilled onto Miller Road. ComEd was called to the scene to repair the utility pole and wires.

The driver was able to extricate himself from the dump truck, Covelli said.

The 47-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, did not require transport to a hospital.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours for cleanup. No citations were issued to the driver.
