Two people were transported to the hospital after a car ran a red light and caused a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck in Mundelein, police said.

The Mundelein Fire Department and Mundelein Police Department responded around 3 p.m. Monday to Route 45 and Route 83 in Mundelein.

Mundelein Police Department Sgt. Christopher Brigano told Lake and McHenry County Scanner the incident involved a three-vehicle crash with injuries.

One car was traveling southeast on Route 83 when it entered the intersection at Route 45 on a red light.

The car struck another car, which then got pushed into a semi tractor-trailer truck, Brigano said.

An adult victim, who was in one of the two cars, was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

A second adult, who was in the second passenger car, was also transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center.

Brigano said the two victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and their conditions were stabilized.

No road closures were put into place and citations are pending.
