Clinton Allen, 33, of Union.

A McHenry County man, who was out on bond for sexually assaulting a child, was found dead after he failed to appear last week for a court hearing in his case.

Clinton J. Allen, 33, of the 9900 block of Forest Lane in Union, was initially charged in December 2020 with five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and three counts of unlawful possession of child pornography.

A grand jury later indicted Allen on 13 additional counts of unlawful possession of child pornography.

A source told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that Allen had been found deceased on Monday.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office confirmed they are investigating his death.

A cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results, the coroner’s office said.

Court records show Allen had been out of jail on bond and on electronic monitoring.

In December 2020, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that they received a report from a concerned citizen.

An investigation was initiated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division which revealed that Allen had sexually assaulted a child in his care.

Court records show the assault happened in June 2013 and the victim was under the age of 13.

Allen was arrested in December 2020 and transported to the McHenry County Jail. He was released after posting 10% of a $250,000 bond.

Earlier this month, Allen failed to appear in court on March 11 for a motion hearing in his case, which has not gone to trial yet.

McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge ordered that Allen’s bond be forfeited and an arrest warrant was issued.
