Detectives arrested a sexual predator who was found living in close proximity to both a school and a church in Lake Zurich, the sheriff’s office said.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ari Briskman said detectives were recently conducting address verifications of registered sex offenders.
A sheriff’s detective determined that Michael P. Feeney, 73, was not living at his registered address in the 35000 block of Wilson Boulevard in unincorporated Round Lake.
Detectives later found that Feeney was actually living in a residence in the 0-100 block of Mohawk Trail in Lake Zurich, Briskman said.
The residence on Mohawk Trail is located within 500 feet of a school and a church.
Feeney is prohibited by law from living within such close proximity to these locations, Briskman said.
State records show Feeney is a registered sexual predator stemming from a predatory criminal sexual assault case in Lake County.
Feeney was convicted in 2008 of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old child in Lake Zurich in 2005.
Feeney was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections as a result of the conviction, court records show.
Sheriff’s detectives obtained a warrant for Feeney’s arrest for one count of sexual offender present in a school zone, a Class 4 felony.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Feeney at the residence in the 0-100 block of Mohawk Trail in Lake Zurich last week.
Feeney was released from the Lake County Jail after he posted 10% of a $150,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on May 6.
