A 27-year-old man was arrested after police say he drove 114 mph on Route 41 in Highland Park while under the influence of alcohol last weekend.
Jorge Fuentes, 27, of the 1100 block of Adams Street in North Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding 35 mph or more over the limit.
Fuentes was driving a vehicle northbound on Skokie Valley Road near Chantilly Boulevard in Highland Park around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
A police report said that Fuentes was stopped by police north of the intersection for speeding 114 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.
Officers determined that Fuentes was also driving under the influence of alcohol, the report said.
He had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit.
Officers arrested Fuentes and transported him to the Highland Park Police Department.
He was released from custody on a recognizance bond without needing to post a cash bond, police records show.
Fuentes is scheduled to appear in court on May 13 for an arraignment hearing.
On March 17, a Waukegan man was arrested for excessively speeding on Route 41 in Highland Park while driving under the influence.
Nathan A. Gonzalez, 18, allegedly drove 124 mph on Route 41 north of Half Day Road, a police report said.
