Police are investigating after a man armed with a handgun carjacked a victim in North Chicago for their Mercedes-Benz sedan Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened in the 1400 block of Lincoln Avenue in North Chicago, which is on the border of Waukegan.

The North Chicago Police Department was called to the scene around 2:15 p.m. Saturday.

An alert was broadcasted to area police departments over the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network regarding the incident.

The alert said a male in his 20s wearing a hoodie and a mask displayed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim.

The suspect stole the victim’s 2010 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan, the alert said.

The suspect drove the Mercedes away westbound on 14th Street and traveled northbound on Jackson Street.

No suspects have been arrested yet.
