The coroner’s office has identified a 30-year-old man who died after he was shot multiple times inside a Round Lake Beach residence Thursday morning.
An autopsy showed that Frank Robinson, 30, of Round Lake Beach, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton.
The Round Lake Beach Police Department responded around 4:20 a.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Meadow Green Lane in Round Lake Beach for a report of shots fired.
Lake County Major Crime Task Force Spokesman Christopher Covelli said officers arrived at the scene and found shell casings outside of a residence.
Police officers entered the residence, which appeared to be the intended target of the shooting.
They located Robinson inside the residence who was seriously injured from what appeared to be a gunshot wound, Covelli said.
Police immediately requested the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District to the scene.
Robinson was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s Office on Thursday.
The Round Lake Beach Police Department requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force due to the severity of the incident.
Covelli said that based on the preliminary information, the shooting appears to be targeted and not random.
