Police arrested a man who allegedly strangled a woman and punched her multiple times as she held a child in her arms in McHenry on Sunday.

Fredi Barradas, 23, of the 1900 block of Sunset Avenue in McHenry, was charged with aggravated domestic battery by strangulation, domestic battery physical contact and causing a child to be endangered.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Barradas wrapped both of his hands around a woman’s throat and applied pressure, intentionally impeding her breathing on Sunday in McHenry.

Barradas, who is in a relationship with the victim, punched the woman in the back of her head four times with a closed fist while grabbing her hair, the complaint said.

The complaint also said that Barradas endangered the life of a child who was being held by the victim at the time of the attack.

Officers with the McHenry Police Department arrested the man around 11 p.m. Monday.

McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt ordered Barradas held in the McHenry County Jail on a $40,000 bond.

He would need to post $4,000 cash in order to be released.

A bond hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
