A man suffered serious injuries and had to be flown to the hospital after he crashed his motorcycle near Marengo Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:14 p.m. Saturday to the 20300 block of Beck Road in unincorporated Marengo for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said firefighters arrived to find a motorcycle crash.

The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved. It had driven off the roadway and struck a mailbox.

Vucha said paramedics found the male victim in a ditch.

He was conscious at the time but had suffered serious injuries, Vucha said.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was called and landed nearby the scene. It is unknown how long the roadway was closed.

Vucha said the helicopter flew the victim to Javon Bea Hospital Riverside in Rockford.
