Two people were shot in what appears to be a targeted shooting in North Chicago Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 1400 block of Hervey Avenue in North Chicago for a report of shots fired.

Officers arrived and found two gunshot victims, according to North Chicago Police Chief Lazaro Perez.

Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and paramedics transported them to an area hospital.

Their exact conditions were not released.

One of the victims was reportedly shot in the leg, according to fire radio traffic.

Police say the shooting appears to be targeted at one or both of the victims.
