A Chicago man was arrested by police after he allegedly robbed a woman and stole her car and belongings in Fox Lake, court records show.
Donielle A. Mitchell, 36, of the 1700 block of North Ashland Avenue in Chicago, was charged with robbery, theft over $10,000, possession of a stolen vehicle and driving on a suspended license.
A criminal complaint filed in Lake County Circuit Court alleges that Mitchell robbed a female victim around 7:30 p.m. on May 7.
The incident occurred at 509 Washington Avenue in Fox Lake, which is a property that has a laundromat and a beauty salon.
Mitchell allegedly ripped the victim’s purse out of her hands, the complaint said. Money and car keys were in her purse.
Mitchell allegedly used the car keys to steal the victim’s 2016 GMC Terrain and flee the scene, the complaint said.
Officers with the Fox Lake Police Department arrested him the same day and transported him to the Lake County Jail.
Lake County Judge Ari Fisz ordered Mitchell held on a $50,000 bond.
He remains held in the Lake County Jail on a combined $150,000 bond due to an unrelated theft case against him, court records show.
Should Mitchell be able to post bond, Fisz ordered him to have no contact with the victim, not consume any alcohol or drugs and surrender any firearms he owns.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25.
