Police say they are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who tried entering homes in Lake in the Hills and fled after being confronted by a homeowner.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department said Sunday morning that the subject was attempting to enter homes on Wright Drive in Lake in the Hills around 3:50 a.m. Saturday.

A homeowner confronted the man in their garage and he fled the scene.

The police department said that the subject’s motives are unclear but officers are investigating to “ensure the safety of our community.”

A video posted by a resident on the Ring app showed the man walking up to the front porch of a residence and attempting to open the home’s front door.

Officers will be conducting increased patrols in the area following the incident.

It is unknown how many residences the suspect attempted to enter.

Anyone who can identify the subject or has additional information about this incident is asked to call 847-658-5676.

A dispatcher will transfer the caller to the on-duty shift commander to relay the information.

Anyone who spots the subject in the photo is asked to call 911 immediately, police said.
