A Woodstock man was arrested earlier this week after being charged with sexually assaulting a young child over 10 years ago, court records show.
Jose J. Vega, 34, of the 300 block of Railroad Street in Woodstock, was arrested on Tuesday.
A grand jury indicted Vega on four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
The indictment said that Vega committed several sexual acts on a child sometime between September 2008 and December 2012.
The victim was under the age of 13 when the assaults occurred, the indictment said.
The case was investigated by the Woodstock Police Department.
An arrest warrant was issued for the man on May 12 after the charges were filed, court records show.
Vega remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He would need to post $15,000 cash in order to be released.
The most serious charge, predatory criminal sexual assault, is a Class X felony and carries a maximum sentence of natural life in prison.
Vega is scheduled to appear in court again on June 6 for an arraignment hearing.
