A man was charged after he allegedly punched his wife in the head while she was holding a toddler in Lakemoor, court documents show.
Dmitry Bogatiryov, 48, of the 1900 block of Julia Way in Lakemoor, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated driving under the influence while license revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol, domestic battery causing bodily harm, child endangerment and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit alleges that Bogatiryov struck his wife in the head with a closed fist on Wednesday.
Bogatiryov “knowingly endangered the safety” of his 1-year-old daughter, who was being held by the woman when she was allegedly punched, the complaint said.
The victim attempted to call 911 but Bogatiryov broke the cell phone she was using, the complaint said.
Officers with the Lakemoor Police Department arrested Bogatiryov around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
They found he was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest, the complaint said.
Court records show Bogatiryov has two prior convictions for driving under the influence and his license is revoked.
McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt ordered the man held on a $15,000 bond.
Bogatiryov was released from the McHenry County Jail after posting $1,500 cash.
Gerhardt ordered the man to have no contact with the victim or the child while out on bond in the case.
A court hearing is next scheduled in the case for June 9.
