A Wonder Lake man was arrested after allegedly grooming a child online and traveling to Michigan where he picked her up, brought her back to McHenry and sexually abused her.
Mark L. Bock, 45, of the 3600 block of Fawn Lane in Wonder Lake, was charged with five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, traveling to meet a minor, indecent solicitation, grooming and harboring a runaway.
A criminal complaint alleges that Bock communicated over the internet with a child in early June in an attempt to commit a sex offense.
Bock traveled to Detroit, Michigan on June 6 and brought the 16-year-old girl back to McHenry, according to McHenry police.
The parents of the juvenile were not aware of what happened and reported her missing to the Detroit Police Department.
Bock allegedly committed several acts with the girl at the Super 8 hotel in McHenry on June 8 and June 9, the complaint and police said.
Officers with the McHenry Police Department arrested Bock on June 10 after responding to a call from the victim.
McHenry County Judge Michael Feetterer ordered Bock held in the McHenry County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Bock remains held in the jail as of Friday and would need to post $10,000 cash in order to be released.
Should he be released on bond, Bock will be ordered to have no contact with the juvenile victim.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 1.
