One person was hospitalized with minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash left one car on its side and another car with heavy damage on Route 41 in North Chicago Monday afternoon.

The North Chicago Fire Department responded around 2:50 p.m. Monday to Route 41 and Bittersweet Drive in Lake Bluff for a report of a vehicle crash.

North Chicago Fire Department Battalion Chief Kim Schaefer told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that firefighters arrived to find two cars involved in a crash with one on its side.

A female was reportedly trapped in the vehicle, according to fire radio traffic, but Schaefer said there all occupants were out of their vehicles when crews arrived.

One patient was transported to Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital with minor injuries.

Another patient signed a refusal and was released at the scene, Schaefer said.
